Clan Histories

(Reader Note: Because Chubbles is a part of this clan history, he will refer to himself in the third person, so as to avoid confusion.)
Why do great empires crumble and fall? In KoL, many of life's lessons are applicable. Internal corruption, power disputes, social unrest, plundering both from outside invaders and from disaffected insiders, game-wide natural disasters that strained already taut relations and opened, or reopened, wounds that would not heal. All of these things, and more, happened to Alliance From Hell, once considered by many to be the greatest clan in existence - perhaps (with the 1337 sn4x0rs as the only imaginable competition, at the time), the greatest clan in the history of the game. Its ranks were filled with great heroes and dirty thieves, and plenty who glided easily between the roles; it was destroyed and reborn twice, under two different names; it was alternately revered and reviled, but known to everyone who played the game; it came to - almost simultaneously - be everything that a great clan should be, and everything that it should not.
Here, then, is its story.
March, 2004. Quato was a member of Darkplace, a successor to the once-great Monkeys of Basingstoke City. Having just had his account hijacked, and having looted into oblivion the high-profile clan *~Rage~*, he struck out on his own. He picked a perfect name - with its connotations of brotherhood, ultimate power, and pure evil, it was clear that Quato meant to pursue game dominance in whatever way he could. His early recruits included a number of other ex-Darkplacers, including God of Thunder, TomHowlin, Blaze123, and Jimbowong. Quato slowly added players to his ranks through April and May of 2004, but the clan's public profile began to rise only after the downfall of Elite Ones. Their leader, Shecky, was hacked and deleted on May 27, 2004. Alliance from Hell offered shelter to a number of the recently displaced (most of whom were old-time powergamers); through June and July, a large influx of players, many of them new at the game then but legendary now, began flocking to AFH's ranks. Quato began pruning the ranks of the inactive, and spurred the rest to action.
By midsummer 2004, Quato was a highly visible leaderboard stathound, and his clan had become one of the most recognizable powerhouses in KoL. He had enlisted two dozen or more of the most visible players in-game, mostly people whose main claim to fame lay not in their social graces or proximity to the admins, but their ability to move markets, relentlessly powergame, and ruthlessly PvP. As new players found the game at ever-increasing rates, they looked to the leaderboards to see the best of the best; AFH was the clan that everyone wanted to be in "when they grew up".
In July 2004, Quato and Firestorm ZERO secretly hatched a plan to complete an ancient quest. In the early days of KoL, Accordion Thief (See Cool Guy Crew) hosted a number of "scavenger hunts", for which he would give out in-game prizes of a Big Ol' Trophy to the winner, and Consolation Ribbons to the runners-up. One of these hunts required participating players to collect all tradable items in the game. By Quato's time, that had become a task far more formidable than it was when AT first ran the contest; he and his cadre decided it would be a perfect way to distinguish the clan, and he set about doing it. The clan quickly amassed a clan stash that included every single possible item, and presented it to Mr. Skullhead. Unfortunately, by this time Accordion Thief had been inactive for nearly two months, and the contest was no longer open; however, Mr. Skullhead, impressed by their gumption, decided he would reward the Alliance with the prize anyway. Quato was awarded the Big Ol' Trophy, and eight players were given Consolation Ribbons: Quato, Jimbowong, Philanthropist, Bimbel, Stable (?), Cheese_shoes, Martinthegreat, and ???. Dark Demon was also retroactively given a Ribbon by Mr. Skullhead in October 2004, as recognition for his unsung contributions. Additionally, Quato was given enough Triple-Minty Gums to hand out one to each member of the clan.
Unsurprisingly, AFH's members were front and center in the controversies around Black Sunday. Lect, a master market manipulator and amateur bughunter, managed to (somehow) duplicate Sober Pills, leaving him with thousands, just before Black Sunday. He also managed to learn one of the infinite-meat bugs of Black Sunday almost as soon as it was discovered, and used the meat to fund a multi called Peacemaker (playerid unknown), whose clan took down Warclan's massive goodie-bag stash in one fell swoop. AFH's members almost universally made billions on Black Sunday; Quato issued a billion meat's worth of Ice-Cold Beers to each member via the clan stash, and bought the clan its own massive army to take down Warclan. Many of AFH's members were singled out for excoriation regarding the Black Sunday mess, but ultimately no one is sure who first discovered the bug. AFH's members share much of the blame for propagating the bug, but everything happened so fast, and the bugs were so simple to figure out, that the mess was likely to have been uncontainable no matter what they had chosen to do.
As part of the cleanup effort, Jick offered 'Villa' Documents for sale at the new Uncle P's Antique Shop in Seaside Town for 500 million meat apiece. Quato was the first player to step into the new channel, and most of AFH followed him there. AFH's members were known Kingdom-wide, were boundlessly wealthy, swimming in rares, and practically had their own chat channel in addition to their given /clan. They ate Spectral Pickles and drank Rolls in the Hay, the best drink of the age, every day. What could possibly go wrong?
Plenty was already going wrong, internally. AFH had considerable trouble keeping its warfare and stash management straight. Their war room administration was not particularly adept, and at least one member was booted for accidentally attacking an allied clan. Several disputes broke out when sizable war room caches were burned on clan stat boosters and booze, instead of army units. It was not always easy to tell who had done it, or why, and it aggravated donators. Furthermore, Quato constantly reorganized the clan rankings and titles, which inevitably led to disputes over promotions/demotions and frequent requests for clan title changes. Whenever someone became angry enough about it to leave the clan, as SolarFlare recalls, "the preferred method of leaving was to loot as much of the enormous stash as possible before someone noticed and booted them."
Despite being enormously popular and perceived as very generous, Quato was a fickle leader, and a ceaseless opportunist. It became apparent to those who interacted with him that meat was a bigger concern for him than reputation. He would often offer large sums of meat and rares to those he really wanted in AFH, and demand rares in exchange for acceptance to those he thought he had leverage over. And all the time he was managing AFH, he was also angling for acceptance to Warehouse 23, which he would never get. Coupled with the fact that he was less skilled at diplomacy than befitted someone in his position, this meant considerable friction both internally and between clans. His co-leader at the time, Jimbowong, grew more and more frustrated with Quato's leadership style in the days after Black Sunday. I deign to quote myself:
"As I understood it, Quato wanted to let in some lower-level people he met in Villa to AFH - people who he thought were cool and potentially influential, but who were admittedly Nouveau Riche and who weren't very high level (i.e., proven players). Jimbowong wanted to stick to an earlier vision of AFH - a very powerful meritocracy made up of players who constantly worked at improving stats and building a solid economic foundation."
At the beginning of September, Jimbowong invited Chubbles into AFH without seeking Quato's approval. When Quato found out minutes later, he promptly booted Chubbles without a word. Jimbo, angry at being second-guessed, quit the clan and set up his own solo outfit, which he called Aflubadubdub!; he would later turn it into a highly esteemed clan in its own right (with its own entry in these clan histories). To choose a new leader, Quato created a multi, stocked him with rares and several million meat, and invited him into the clan from newbie chat. Balex2290 was the first to recognize it as one of Quato's multis; because of his sharp eye, he was made the new co-leader, despite having only been in the clan a week (to the chagrin of some other longtime members).
Jimbowong's leaving hit the Alliance hard; he was a well-liked member, and several players left with him or split off on their own soon after. His departure was only one crack in the seams, however. Another event that eroded AFH's credibility was the Canadia debacle. On September 18, word somehow got out that a new area, called Camp Logging Camp, was available on the live servers. It is not known who, exactly, first discovered this; its prehistory has been traced as far back as possible in the Aflubadubdub clan history, under Chubbles's entry. However, several high-profile players openly posted the link to the new site in chat, particularly Villa, making it possible for most of KoL to illegitimately access the unfinished area. Philanthropist (who was no longer a member of AFH at the time) posted the chat logs of this occurrence on the forums, resulting in a gamewide uproar over the exploitation. Haz, CrazyAnnie, and Sealh8r (the latter two of whom were AFH) were all banned from the chat as punishment for their open involvement - Haz for 1000 days, the others for 10 days, a punishment that was later reduced to 1 day. Because many other AFH'ers visited the site (Quato, Firestorm ZERO, and Kinky_Sex_Mace, among others, although none of these people publicly posted the link), the clan suffered a tarnished reputation.
Alliance From Hell's first downfall came soon after. Quato had grown tired of the endless bickering between clan members in /clan and /villa, and decided he had had enough. He left the clan on October 1 without telling many people, and made Firestorm ZERO its head. Soon after, Balex2290 and FZ had a confrontation; Balex was testing a chat bug in /clan, and FZ demoted him for spamming the channel after being asked to stop. He left, and the clan simply melted down from there. Firestorm ZERO booted a fair number of the members, left Jurgen with the clan's name and headed off. Soon after, Quato asked Jurgen to retire the name Alliance From Hell for good.
The post-AFH diaspora is bewildering. Many of its disenfranchised members sought refuge in Warclan; others set up their own clans, and a great deal of these solo clans were soon subsumed by either Aflubadubdub or Philanthropists. Quato and Bimbel, perhaps the two most visible AFH'ers, went clanhopping at a bizarre clip. They first made an overnight stay in Aflubadubdub!, then Bimbel split off to form the short-lived Shadows of an Old Century with God of Thunder and several other Alliance refugees. Quato went from Aflubadubdub to Warclan, where he did not stay long, and from there he formed a new clan, which he dubbed One Step Beyond. It was intended to be a successor clan to AFH, which he wanted to make bigger and better than the original. Despite some heated rhetoric on the forums and a fairly impressive memberlist made up mostly of ex-AFHers and new Villans, One Step Beyond never really got off the ground. It suffered from many of the same internal scuffles and petty fights over the clan stash and item borrowings, and after five or six weeks, Quato scuttled the project in much the same fashion as with AFH.
From there, Quato tried to join Philanthropists. When he and DaPunisher were accepted, several of its better-known members left; Philanthropist (the founder of the clan, though he had left long ago) even went so far as to send a k-mail to all current Philanthropists asking them to leave the clan. Quato left of his own accord, by now a pariah wherever he went. He formed a clan called Eviterces with Jacka18l for a few days; Bimbel, who had left Shadows of an Old Century to God of Thunder, formed a solo clan called The Brotherhood of (infinity symbol) +1. Quato then disbanded Eviterces and founded Volcom with Firestorm ZERO and Sambob182. Ultimately, they decided that nothing they had tried came even close to the original Alliance From Hell. There was only one thing left to do that made any sense: Reform it.
Quato got the name back from Sambob182's account, Mr Skullhead Is Uber Cool (playerid unknown), a multi set up to hold the name Alliance From Hell so that no enterprising soul could keep it. A great many of its old members flocked back, some still homeless after One Step Beyond fell apart. Quato himself, however, did not last long. He soon handed over leadership to Jurgen, and slowly began withdrawing from the game. Under Jurgen, many new Villans filed in, as did a number of noted forumgoers. The clan grew again to a robust size and might have been considered one of the best clans of its era, if the shadow of its former glory had not hung so heavy above it.
One episode Jurgen remembers fondly of his time as leader was the intra-clan Secret Santa event. He and ParanoidAndroid set up a list of senders and receivers, and each member of the clan gave an item (of worth in the neighborhood of 3-6 million) anonymously to another. The event was remembered as a smashing success. Unfortunately, the good feelings did not last far into the new year. A player named WARBURY (#85045), a known looter, had been let into the clan. A few days into the new year, he pilfered a number of rares and holiday items from the stash. The looting hit the clan hard, and many players, including Jurgen himself, moved on.
Jurgen handed the reins to Firestorm ZERO when he left. In the interest of preventing further lootings, FZ set up and recruited heavily for an AFH training camp, much like many other clans at the time. It didn't help. AFH continued to hemorrhage members, and the clan as a whole suffered some high-profile drama when Kucolan, a longtime member, took many rares from the stash to fund a massive raffle that never happened. Despite possibly being more organized than they had ever been before, anger and disputes continued to well up in the clan. Quato, having bounced around further (doing stints in The Courtyard, The Ninjapiratezombierobot Clan, and his own Overlords, among others), wanted to come back to AFH, and many of its members agreed he should be let back in; FZ took a poll, but there was a lot of bad blood between them at that point, and FZ denied Quato's requests. More and more people began to resent FZ's leadership, and he decided that he couldn't stand it anymore. On February 28, 2005, He booted every member of the clan, emptied the stash (offering to send back what people had donated if asked), and left the name of the clan in the care of a multi, where it resides today. Alliance From Hell was done, for good.
A number of important side clans grew up around AFH during and after its second life. One Step Beyond and Shadows of an Old Century have already been mentioned; a few of the other clans became separate enough to warrant their own sub-entry.
ABSOLUTE ADHERENCE
Absolute Adherence was formed by Sealh8r at the beginning of November 2004, contemporaneously with One Step Beyond. AA gradually picked up members as AFH and its successors eroded; it was solidly /villa and devoted to in-game domination. Sealh8r, along with Sharpie2pen, Pumpcheeze, and others, made PvP success a clan prerogative; they also set up a Training Camp and only let very high-power players in, sailing them high above all other clans on the power boards for most of very late 2004 and early 2005.

Almost more than for anything they did in-game, AA were known for being a brash and rambunctious group. Their tendency to boast of their own greatness and hardcore prowess in gaming had a comical, almost Tricky Tricky-esque dimension to it. Some said they took it too far when they announced to the forums they had a new clan avatar, an animated .gif of KoL-esque stick figures in an act of simulated pornography. Nonetheless, it had a strong social side; F u c j y o u notes, "AA was a small, organized clan, mostly full of power gamers, and people who took KoL a little more serious than myself; however, this group of people was truly a great, trustworthy community. The best parts of AA were that while we were a very small clan, we still ALWAYS had a couple members around in chat. I could always go into clan chat and talk about my day, my kol play, or any other topic... It was nice to have people who were willing to get to know you 1:1 and as a group."

While Absolute Adherence's members were very widely known, most of them began leaving the game in early 2005, and the clan, by mid-2005, became merely a holding pen for a number of leet multis.
TEMPEST FUGIT
When AFH mark 2 imploded, many of its displaced members sought refuge in Tempest Fugit. The clan was founded by Syko Spandex Mouse and co-led by GsGold; Syko Spandex Mouse later handed the clan's leadership to Moldar. Tempest has tried hard to distinguish itself on its own, rather than simply be known as a successor clan. That many of the ex-AFH'ers in its ranks have slowly drained out over its first few months of existence may or may not have helped that process. They have, by now, established a respectability among younger players, with contests and philanthropy, and a high placing on Contrickster's clan lists.
DARK THIEVES
Dark Thieves was an experiment of KJ217. The clan exists with the express purpose of hitting the powerboards as high as possible; many of its members do little else aside from powergaming. They have housed several inactive accounts just to get the power boost, and a few members have even left the clan because they felt they were dragging the average power down too far! A number of ex-AFH'ers have made its way into Dark Thieves from time to time.
ALLIANCE FROM HEII
By the end of its last incarnation, "being AFH" became more of a liability than a mark of distinction. Many players considered AFH to be the former domain of a bunch of ne'er-do-wells, who flamed, looted, and exploited their way to bloated egos and false glory. About a month after the official disbanding of the clan, Philanthropist, ever his Puckish self, set up a clan called "Alliance from Heii", with capital I's, filled it with KoL notables (Wormwood, Xenophobe, Marshall, and others), and started inviting former AFH'ers into it, particularly the ones of ill repute. After a sizable membership and clan stash had been established, Kitsune_tsuki poured meat stacks into the stash, emptied it of everything of value (and everything worthless, as well), and sold it all off at her store, which she had dubbed "AFH 10 meat sale", with a storekeeper named Pappabear. The hilarity was posted on the forums as a "picture story" in Discussion, with the jokesters laughing all the way to the RoF. For all the humor it provided, though, it was also very revealing. It was a reminder of how far AFH had fallen in everyone's esteem - they had gone from truly great to the laughingstock of the Kingdom.

After the demise of AFH2, an AFH3 was later formed, still more of a shadow of its once-great self. When the multi of Firestorm ZERO holding the clan name "Alliance From Hell" expired from inactivity, AFH was refounded with some of its original members. This part of the history falls beyond the purview of this study; please contact Chubbles if any later additions to AFH's history need be made.
MAJOR MEMBERS:
AFH's history does not read like Warehouse23's, or Warclan's. They did little in concert with each other (aside from the Scavenger Hunt), and existed before the days of mass philanthropy or organized clan projects. The reason they mattered so much - the magic of AFH - lied in its individual members' actions. What follows is at least as important as what precedes in telling this clan's story.
The following symbols will be appended to each entry to denote membership:
AFH - Alliance From Hell, mark 1
OSB - One Step Beyond
SOC - Shadows of an Old Century
AFH2 - Alliance From Hell, mark 2
AA - Absolute Adherence
TF - Tempest Fugit
DT - Dark Thieves
*Archurangu (#108483)-see Aflubadubdub!. (AFH)
*ArlonHarrison (#195386)-Better known as the heralded forum-poster, Aardvark. Aardvark has been a mainstay both of legitimate debate in discussion and of dignified flaming in the Ring of Flame. Aardvark made many a long post correcting the grammar of legendary spammer Pappabear (#122490), and their antagonism eventually led Aardvark to be one of the first forumers to call for Pappabear to be banned from the forums. Aardvark once compiled all of the Ring of Flame threads he could find that mentioned TheBub's ass, and listed them in a thread called "TheBub's Ass: The Complete Collection". He is also the author of the Dictionary of Loathing, once a forum thread but now on Coldfront, as well as the custodian of the forum's Item Number and Effect Number thread. Aardvark was appointed a moderator of the Help forum in May 2005 after countless hours spent advising newbies there. (AFH2, TF)
*Alpaca (#206662)-see Church of Reset. Alpaca coded the last version of the AFH clan forums and was a high-ranked active member. He left due to a disagreement about clan policy. (AFH2)
*AlphaWhelp (#131530)-AlphaWhelp was an outspoken forum firebrand for most of the second half of 2004. He was particularly known for an exceptionally well-written pseudo-fanfiction he called "The Book of Loathing". As adept at trolling and fighting as he was at legitimate commentary, he fed the fires of many raging debates on the forums. His paranoia over the anger of people he'd flamed on the forums led him to buy 34,000 Mafia protection contracts during the contract hits controversy, far more than any other player.

Late in the year, he made a stunning appeal for reversal; he cautioned that the ill will and anger on the forums were threatening to tear the community apart, and made an apology for being so caustic in the past. His words were widely noted, but not widely followed; their echoes still ring true, months down the line. (AFH2)
*Altae (#119270)-Well-known forum poster; one of very few graduates from the proving grounds clan. (AFH2, TF)
*Bad Boy (#9654)-Oldtime player who was known for his pickiness and hatred to those who he didn't consider perfect. Only had a brief spell in the clan, before leaving both it and the game as a whole. His multi, Hashashin (#12611), was also well-known for PvP, and was a member of Lothlorien. (AFH)
*Badmojo (#146160)-Powergamer and Villa member who was Jurgen's first recruit when he became leader in January 2005. Later a member of Otori. (AFH2)
*Balex2290 (#24693)-Well-known forum poster, powergamer, and perennial bughunter. Balex was made co-leader within a week of his acceptance. Balex was also the rogue behind the joke account Suspicious Looking Gurl (#239980), created after the Suspicious Looking Guy (#232065) made his first appearances in chat channels. Later a member of Aflubadubdub and Noblesse Oblige. (AFH)
*BeefBurglar (#2347)-see [AzN]. (DT)
*Big Dick (#11987)-No relation to Biggus Dickus (#46462), though Big Dick did have a number of like-named multis. Big Dick was a well-known chat personality in spring and summer 2004. He joined AFH after much persuasion and was an active message board poster until he joined Aflubadubdub. He has also been a member of 1337 sn4x0rs. (AFH)
*BigKevinm844 (#33470)-see Aflubadubdub!. This account is a well-known PvP badass, and also cracked the top 25 most powerful players in May 2005. (DT)
*Bimbel (#25193)-Recruited by Quato and Firestorm ZERO early on in 2004. Bimbel was in AFH for eight months, where he developed framehelpers, cast mass-buffings, and was a prolific contributor both to the stash and message board. Bimbel was a major contributor to the Scavenger Hunt, for which he was awarded a Consolation Ribbon. Bimbel has been a high-level powergamer for over a year, and he and Quato always towered above their clanmates both in level and in power. Bimbel passed Boozerbear to become the most mystical player in the Kingdom on February 2, 2005, and has remained there since (aside from short exploits by Jick and Marshall). Bimbel founded Shadows of an Old Century after leaving AFH for good, but did not stay there long. (AFH, SOC, AA, DT)
*Birdy (#37689)-Recruited as soon as he became a chat moderator by Quato, Birdy was booted for accidentally attacking a clan that AFH had alliances with. See Knights of Minus Tirith. (AFH)
*Blackbelt02 (#301768)-noted Villan, and addicted to rafflebot so badly he has gone into the hock trying to win back his meat. Blackbelt02 was hacked in May 2005 and lost a great deal of meat and items. Later member of the Courtyard. (TF)
*Blaze123 (#6911)-see Aflubadubdub. (AFH)
*Blue_Canary (#249260)-Well-known trader. (AFH2, TF)
*Blue Max (#227919)-Ubiquitous forum spammer. Blue Max is one of several players who has built up a colossally high postcount through the reconstructed Random Ramblings. He runs a popular KoL comic called Familiar Follies.

On March 27, 2005, Blue Max nailed an asshat in one of the most hilarious ownings in forum history. A player named "RyuHimora" (playerid unknown) announced to the forums that he had gotten a mysterious message that sounded like a threat. When people began to doubt him, he gave out his password and told people to have a look at the message themselves. Blue Max logged on to the account, and found evidence of multi abuse; he tried to log onto one of the multis, Shreave (#294304), and succeeded, because they had the same password. With this evidence, he got Shreave disabled, and reported back to the forums that RyuHimora was a bona fide abuser. Meanwhile, Chubbles tried the posted password on RyuHimora's forum account, and succeeded in hijacking this, as well.

Late in April 2005, Blue Max was at the crux of an inter-forum dispute. The KoL forums were spammed with thread-breaking, not-safe-for-work images; Blue Max located the forums from which the offending posters had come from, and posted on their boards, demanding that they call it off. He was nearly IP-banned by Mr Skullhead for this. (AFH2, TF)
*Bragi (#98311)-see Aflubadubdub!. Recruited as soon as he became a chat moderator and radio DJ by Quato. (AFH)
*Brown (#211924)-Popular forum artist who was AFH's last recruit before it fell apart for the second time. Later a member of Demonology. (AFH2)
*Brutal (#151938)-Villa member and mall player who was one of Firestorm ZERO's first recruits. Later a member of Tainted Meat Alliance. (AFH2)
*BunBun (#36395)-Recruited by Quato in the summer of 2004. Eventually left for Sparkle Motion to become the owner of his own clan called Paradise Island, set up to provide people who are temporarily leaving the game a place to have their turns played and their character pampered. BunBun also celebrated the first official Meat Day on October the 18th, 2004 to celebrate being free from cancer for ten years; the day was marked with rich players handing out literally billions of meat to people in chat. BunBun was made a chat moderator in April 2005; he joined Noblesse Oblige early in June 2005. (AFH)
*Cheese_Shoes (#28863)-Real-life friend of Quato's who had countless stints in the clan. Cheese_Shoes was given a Consolation Ribbon for his efforts in the AFH Scavenger Hunt. Later a member of The Rye and Aflubadubdub! (AFH, OSB, AFH2, DT)
*Chocosushi3 (#8114)-formerly a well-known forum poster. Chocosushi used to have five accounts, numbered 1-5, but lost the passwords to all but the character Chocosushi3, which became his main. (OSB, AFH2)
*Chris14 (#369999)-new account of Chris13 (playerid unknown), an old player brought to the game by Firestorm ZERO. (TF, DT)
*Chubbles (#79514)-see Aflubadubdub. Chubbles was only a member of AFH for about five minutes. (AFH)
*Contrickster (#43579)-Former member of Sissyfighters, and later the founder of the Lolly Licker's Finishing School. More information forthcoming. (OSB, AFH2)
*Cloud Rookie (#167962)-Noted powergamer and creator of Kol Traderz, a popular series of artwork. Later a member of Lolly Licker's Finishing School. (AFH2)
*CrazyAnnie (#166033)-CrazyAnnie was a phenomenally popular player in summer 2004. Called the "Queen of villa", she was a frequently commissioned artist; her work adorned the forums in many people's avatars and sigs. After leaving AFH, she started a clan called the Loathing Academy of Visual Arts, which counted as members either the main or the multi of almost every leading KoL artist at the time, and which still exists in limited capacity. CrazyAnnie once endeavored to start a mass alliance she called the Coalition of Clans; while many, many clans pledged their support, the idea eventually fell through for lack of centralized planning. She was involved in the public exploit of the Canadia test site, and was given a ten-day chat ban for it; though the ban was later wiped, CrazyAnnie was so disappointed in the handling of the affair that she all but quit the game. She has rarely been heard from since. (AFH)
*Cybermg (#69751)-Villa member who was an early recruit of Quato's in the second AFH. Once noted for his once huge Toast collection. Later a member of the Courtyard. (AFH2)
*Dances_with_Monkeys (#39204)-formerly a well-known forum poster. (AFH)
*DaPunisher (#81380)-DaPunisher was once one of the most influential individuals in the game. He was a PvP barracuda and a high-level powergamer who nipped at the leaderboards. But more importantly, he was a fierce market baron, and grew to enormous wealth both before and after Black Sunday. DaPunisher was buying Mr. Accessories in /newbie while people with comparable playerid's were still figuring out the Orc Chasm quest; he had acquired a treasure chest of rares and dealt heavily in Hell Ramen and high-level drinks. Post-Black Sunday, he became well-known on the forums, and acquired many billions in tradable rares and high-autosell items. He also was the second-highest contributor to the Council's Build-A-Cannon meatsink, under Qrrbrbirlbel (see 1337 sn4x0rs), and contributed a gargantuan sum to the War Fund, as well; he was also one of the most popular Mafia targets during the contract hit wars. Though a villan, he kept a lifeline to Trade and even Newbie, and was well-known and liked by several generations of chat regulars.

After his time in AFH, he was a member of Warclan, Philanthropists/Noblesse Oblige, and Absolute Adherence. In October 2004, DaPunisher bought the account of Jayo for cold hard cash. He, himself, announced his retirement from the game in January 2005 (see Sealh8r's entry for more details).

DaPunisher also had a rather well-known PvP multi in the old, level-based system, named The Flash (#124189). (AFH, AA)
*Dark Demon (#12728)-Quiet powergamer and real-life friend of Jimbowong who was a member before AFH was a household name. Dark Demon is now the co-leader of Aflubadubdub! (AFH)
*Devoboy (#162069)-Villa member and well-known forumer who joined AFH in early 2005. Later a member of Institute Of Fluff. (AFH2)

*FaQ (#15061)-One of AFH's longest serving and most loyal players, despite long periods of inactivity. FaQ was devoted to the clan so much that he refused to join another when AFH disbanded for the first time. FaQ is also well-known as a forum poster. Later a member of Demonology. (AFH, OSB, AFH2)
*FightABunny24531 (#61531)-see Aflubadubdub!. (AFH)
*Firestorm ZERO (#8849)- Firestorm ZERO is one of the most vilified players in the history of KoL. Some of it, he deserves, and some he does not. But his positions as near-leaderboard powergamer, PvPer, frequent forum poster, longtime member and several times co-leader or sole leader of AFH, and many other activities, easily put him in the running as one of the most well-known players of the game, for good or ill.

FZ (or FS0, either shorthand is used) started ruffling feathers early in his KoL career, as a member of *~Rage~*, among other clans. His unceremonious language and occasional lootings (he would later insist there is "no such thing as a clan looter") earned him the undying hatred of many of the old-school crowd, and Firestorm ZERO flaming threads can be found in the Ring of Flame from as far back as 2003. Several generations of players later, Firestorm ZERO is still getting hate threads (and inboxes full of asshats and urinal cakes), even though many of the players often seem not to know why they are flaming him. The fact that he was the leader of AFH in its dying days - twice - and was accused of looting it on the way out both times, cannot have helped his case.

FZ's most frequently recurring nightmare, however, is totally of his own doing. In May 2004, FZ attempted to donate to KoL using his mom's credit card on PayPal, without telling her; when she found out about it, she contacted Jick to have the transaction cancelled and the Mr. A revoked. Because Jick posted this on the forums, it became public knowledge, and has become one of the legendary stories that is passed down from veteran to newbie as time has worn on.

Aside from all this, Firestorm ZERO has done a fair bit of good for the community at large. He is the co-author of the KoL Trance site with Stable (see Aflubadubdub!), which was for over a year the most comprehensive and popular KoL spoiler site and guide in existence. He is the author of KoL Weekly, a stickied forum zine that has featured games, news, interviews, and other tidbits since September of 2004. He also started RR Regulars, a popular comic based on the zany antics of the spammers who frequent the Random Ramblings forum. (AFH, OSB, AFH2, DT)
*Flita (#55503)-Was one of the last recruits before the clans downhill plunge at the end of February 2005. Active contributer and villa member. (AFH2, TF)
*Frazzlehoon (#341700)-Well-known forum poster and artist who joined in February 2005. Frazzlehoon is a frequent questioner on the Jick and Skully show. Later a member of CGC Elite. (AFH2, TF, DT)
*Freak Nasty (#46126)-Recruited by Firestorm ZERO in late summer 2004. The villa member was later a member of The Courtyard and Dark Thieves. (AFH)
*Fryer (#29627)-Villan and real-life friend of Quato's who was recruited in late summer 2004 from MandraClan along with CrazyAnnie. Fryer left the game by giving out his password in chat; the account was quickly snapped up and prevented from looting by Flaaron (see Aflubadubdub!), who still has control of it. (AFH, OSB, AFH2, TF)
*F u c j y o u (#146579)-well-known to chat and forums as an all-around nice guy, thwarting the expectations of many who try to judge people by their player name. Fuc is a villan and is known for his wealth and generosity. Later a member of Institute of Fluff. (AA)
*Gertie (#14821)-see Aflubadubdub!. (AFH)
*G_God (#133777)-A rambunctious regular of /newbie and /trade when Black Sunday hit, G_God caught the winds early and acquired colossal amounts of easily-liquidated rares in the weeks that followed. G_God became one of the most well-known Mr. A hawkers in the post-Black Sunday era, with a net worth of tens of billions of meat long after the day had passed. Noted as a powergamer and top PvPer as well, G_God left left AFH for Absolute Adherence, where he would later become leader and co-controller of several high-profile multi accounts, including Pumpcheeze, Sealh8r, jakevoorhees, and DaPunisher. (AFH, OSB, AFH2, AA)
*GHOST (#2327)-see [AzN]. Ghost was a very early member of AFH, who left before Black Sunday. (AFH, SOC, DT)

*Grayson (#98602)-see [AzN]. Grayson left for one of his former clans, UKol, a few days before the clan's demise. (AFH2)
*Grunj (#37981)-Wildcard recruitment of Quato's in summer 2004 who was active amongst the clan community. A noted forum poster, Grunj has since been a member of 1337 Sn4x0rs and The Rye. (AFH)
*GsGold (#90254)- Villa member who was an active contributor but eventually left to co-lead Tempest Fugit with Syko Spandex Mouse. (AFH2, TF)
*Hanna (#55591)-Popular Villan recruited by Quato in summer 2004. Eventually left for Tainted Meat Alliance. (AFH)
*HeyGurlfriend (#113097)-Recruited into AFH in Autumn 2004; was the last member before the clan's first demise. She is a villa member, a retired chat moderator and artist, and a very well-known forum poster. She was later the leader of Institute Of Fluff. (AFH)
*Houdini (#9405)-Early member and brother of Mrbleboy. Quit Kol when his account was hacked at an unknown time. Has recently come back to the game as Morwen (#12283). (AFH)
*Hyper Vyper (playerid unknown)-Early member who introduced Firestorm ZERO to Kol with his earlier account, The Wizard Of Doom (playerid unknown). Both of them were members of an earlier clan called Melton Mafia. Was a well-known personality in channel normal before he quit early in 2004. (AFH)
*Ill_eagle (#205491)-Information forthcoming. (DT)
*Jacka18L (#60852)-see Warclan. (AFH, OSB, SOC, AA)
*Jakevoorhees (#130916)-former PvP badass, and high-level powergamer; now a multi account. Jakevoorhees is Sealh8r's stepbrother. (AA)
*James (#5119)-first account of ThunderSource; by now, he is far better known under that name. See below. As James, he started a clan called James's House of Fun, which housed several hundred members early in 2004 (when such a feat was very impressive). He was also a member of Sparkle Motion!.(AFH)
*Jayo (#54083)-Former economic power player. Jayo, at a time when people in his playerid range were still considered newbies, dealt heavily in market manipulation and powergaming, accumulating enormous amounts of wealth and rares (with significant help from BoozerBear) in the months before Black Sunday, and stockpiling tens of billions afterwards.

Jayo was fond of blowing up markets just for the hell of it, and creating panics around items for dubious reasons; in one of the more notable ones, Jayo impishly suggested to the forums that the Wand of Nagamar was going to be needed for the (ever-impending) final stages of ascension. He then started buying out the Wands, along with the Metallic A's necessary to make them; Chubbles caught wind of the idea early, and started driving the market up on his own. Within a few minutes, Wands of Nagamar went from nearly worthless to over 10,000 meat apiece in the mall (pre-Black Sunday); latecomers BigGreenSupreme (see KOL Addicts) and Sherman Potter (#94606) took most of the losses. The rumor of the Wand of Nagamar's role in ascension persisted until May of 2005, when the Wand was finally implemented as an actual combat weapon that was, indeed, needed for the final battle. When sober pills were duped, he acquired literally hundreds and used them, propelling himself onto the leaderboards (along with Birdy) well ahead of most other 5-digit playerids.

Jayo got himself into a fair bit of trouble in July 2004 when he attempted to sell off some of his large cache of Mr. Accessories for $6.50 in US cash via PayPal. He was not the first, nor would he be the last, but he was definitely the most notorious for it. When threatened with account deletion, he immediately promised to cease the activity.

When AFH imploded, Jayo joined Aflubadubdub, and was still a member in October 2004 when he decided to sell his account (see Sealh8r's entry for details). While in Quato's hands, Jayo's account looted Aflubadubdub and left the clan, taking with it 100 spectral pickles and 100 fuzzbumps. The mystery of this account's whereabouts remained unsolved until very recently; it is now under the control of the well-known market hawk and Villan XHellox1 (#157707). (AFH)
*Jimbowong (#12508)-Former co-leader. see Aflubadubdub!. (AFH)
*Jose Stratta (#176706)-Well-known Mexican forummer who was a graduate from the Alliance From Hell Proving Grounds, despite having had a small period in One Step Beyond. Jose is known on the forums as "The Eternal N00b". (OSB, AFH2, TF)
*Jurgen (#101487)-The "Smoking Hermit", so named after acquiring one of the first, and best, custom avatars in the game. Jurgen joined in summer 2004 after a very successful clan war spree with his own clan, Jurgen Corp, which became one of the first training camps that the kingdom has ever witnessed. Jurgen was a small-time trader in high-level food and rares in the weeks before Black Sunday, and became well-known through his thoughtful (though sometimes barely readable) forum posts on the roiling Ramen and clan war controversies. Post-Black Sunday, Jurgen made a massive donation to the War Fund and amassed a titanic amount of meat and rares. Smart mall playing has kept Jurgen one of the most meat-wealthy people in the game. As AFH's first incarnation degraded, Jurgen attempted to hold it together unsuccessfully; when AFH was reformed, Jurgen was given leadership for a time, during which the clan fared well. The Warbury looting led Jurgen to give up his leadership, and in January 2005 he became a member of The Rye. (AFH, OSB, AFH2)
*Kacy (#206922)-Bitchin' artist (known to the forums as Jarez) who was recruited just before the final collapse. (AFH2, TF)
*Keli (#187381)-Popular ten meat sale holder in channel /trade. Notoriously quick to baleet people whom she didn't like, Keli split trade into factions that liked her, and factions that didn't. She eventually quit the game after negative publicity. (TF)
*Kenny Strife (#233088)-Well-known artist and forum poster who was invited to the reborn clan in its very last days. Later a member of Crazen Markay's Madmen. (AFH2)
*King Turtle (#35308)-Noted powergamer, PvPer, villain, free buffer, and chat mainstay who joined the clan for a few hours in Summer 2004. He left because his clan, Tainted Meat Alliance (which is where he remains to this day) fell apart without him. (AFH)
*Kinky_Sex_Mace (#28944)-see The Ninja Turtles. (AFH)
*KJ217 (#34965)-Noted forum poster; brother of Bigkevinm84. Later the leader of Dark Thieves. (AFH2, DT)
*Kucolan (#120400)- Kucolan was an early Villan and became a member of AFH at a comparatively low level after a short stint in Iocaine Powder. Early in his KoL life, he donated nearly $200 in one shot to Jick and Skullhead, which was unheard-of at the time (those who had donated as much kept it quiet), and was widely praised as an "eXtreme donat0r". When he arranged to have a portion of the sales from his company sent to KoL, making him one of the game's all-time top donators, he was rewarded with his own custom item, the Arse-Shooting Crossbow.

Kucolan came under fire for his raffle policies. Late in 2004, he set up a massive raffle in his store, with the prizes worth something in the neighborhood of nine billion meat, and put meat paste in his store for it. As the meat paste sold out, he would continuously raise its price and add more, announcing that the raffle would be held in March of the new year; late in December he was called out by some as a scammer for this. Kucolan (who never used punctuation and was thus very difficult to understand) took the accusations very personally, and threatened to withdraw the raffle completely, burning the donation meat and flaming his accusers. Afer public outcry, Kucolan re-fashioned the raffle as a "lottery", and changed the rules, announcing that the prizes would still be given out on March 20, 2005. Some villans made inquiries as to the winner, and were told Brushhopper (#148590) had won the prize. Brushhopper was actually awarded most of the grand prize; no other winners were known to have been so rewarded. A few weeks later Kucolan, his reputation in tatters, began trying to sell his account on Ebay. (AFH, OSB, AFH2)
*Lect (#100144)- Lect is one of the greatest mysteries of KoL. He was an extraordinarily well-known and liked player in his early days; he was a powergamer, a forum frequenter, and a mall regular, and his store, "international house of pancakes", was known to most anyone who played the economy.

On August 7, 2004, Lect either discovered or (more likely) got hold of several bugs. The first was an infinite duplication bug, probably using the same method WhatTheDeuce (see Crazen Markay's Madmen) originally discovered. Pickles, umbrella drinks, Burritos, Ramen, Gourd Quest items, and stat potions were duped en masse; Lect, in addition to these, and with the help of VagiMonger2, duped Sober Pills. Thousands were dumped onto the market, and a number of players scripted themselves on to or near the leaderboards with them, including Lect himself (who reached level 36 in a few days), Birdy (see Knights of Minus Tirith), Jayo, and Boozerbear (who went up six levels on August 7). This outbreak convinced Jick that the pills were too powerful to have in the game, and he deleted all sobers from the game a week later.

The second bug was the meat bug. In its simplest form, all you needed was to closet all your meat and use a meat vortex. Because the language Jick codes in worked only in positive numbers, a meat vortex that took away more meat than you had "rolled over" from zero into approximately 18,000,000,000,000 meat.

Gigs notes:

"He discovered it purely by accident. At the time, if someone bought more than 2.1 billion meat worth of items from your store, whatever was over 2.1 billion was subtracted from your total meat. So if someone bought 2.5 billion meat worth of something, you *lost* 400 million. Now, if you had less than 400 million in your inventory, your total meat went negative and rolled to 18.4 quintillion.

Lect discovered that bug purely by accident, as he had nothing to do with it. I was talking to him in PMs right when it happened, and I saw his meat total. Lect was *very* confused at first, but I'm sure he figured out later that it was someone with bugmeat (from autoselling duped items) that bought out a bunch of his stuff (pickles, I think) that pushed his meat negative (and therefore very positive)."

Lect was one of the first people to gain a windfall from this bug, once he began to understand what was happening; he created a character called Peacemaker (playerid unknown), and used it to deplete Warclan's entire goodie stash. Then he began buying the mall out of anything of worth, along with literally hundreds of other entrepreneurs; they clawed their way through, buying up as many valuable and high-autosell items they could for absurd prices, and cleaning out /trade chat when the mall had emptied out.

Lect was by no means the only person handing out billions of meat to nearly anyone that day, but he became the most visible; he was repeatedly fingered in the forums as a scapegoat for the unfortunate new state of the Kingdom. To be sure, he was far from greedy about it, and in the following days, he sold off dozens of Villa documents at 10 million meat apiece, as well as vast quantities of ten meat Salty Dogs and Ramen at 300 or 500/day mall limits (which had just been instituted). It took him days to run out, even at those limits. He put tons of the brand-new item, Strawberries, in his store at the same price they were available in the Hippy store, driving billions more meat out of the economy. He also donated more than 100 billion meat to the Council's War Fund, although his name was mysteriously erased from the official records (he would now be third, after Reznor (AKA Celfious), and BoozerBear).

Lect apparently (details are unclear) reported the bugs he used to Jick, but was misunderstood, for some reason or another. He continued to use them until they were plugged, and this made him no different than BoozerBear (see Mahi) or anyone else who logged in that day and understood PHP. Despite his post-Black Sunday philanthropy, he was considered a pariah by many, including the admins - Mr Skullhead said of him, "I have approximately zero respect for [Lect]. He found a bug, exploited it, LIED to Jick about how we was doing it, continued to exploit it... that guy needs a long walk off a short pier.". Late in September 2004, without saying so much as a word to anyone, and leaving no way of contacting him outside of the game, he deleted his character, and has never been seen since.
(AFH)
*Lictor (#243420)-Lictor's old account was Max_Biaggi (#159275), who was hacked and deleted in October 2004. He is a real-life friend of Firestorm ZERO who was an active donator until he looted the clan and was booted. The items were later recovered when FZ hacked Lictor's hotmail account. Later a member of Shore Thing and Otori. (AFH2, DT)
*Lord Jyskal (#118913)-Villa member who was recruited into the clan on the day of its re-creation. He left for a smaller clan in February 2005. (AFH2, AA)
*Mantic (#319743)-well-known forum poster. (TF)
*MartinTheGreat (#15445/#470366)-Martin was an extremely well-known player early in 2004. He was a high-level powergamer, had early Villa access, and a recipient of one of the Consolation Ribbons from the scavenger hunt. An economic baron, he had acquired over 30 Mr. Accessories, as well as a Consolation Ribbon and an Item #13 when he decided to delete his account in late September 2004. He left without a word, and some thought he had been hacked; he was not heard from again until April 2005, when he recreated his character. As soon as word spread that he was back, ThaBeave (#145480) provided him with a Villa doc, again.(AFH)
*Master Bates (#113128)-Ubiquitous forums artist who sells and sold some of the most expensive artwork in the game and has had comissions pouring in. Master Bates's forum and in-game avatars are widely praised; a few hack artists have even made meat pirating his work in cheap forgeries. He also is the maker of the uber-affordable MegaPixels (10,000 meat apiece), which could be found in almost anyone's forum sigs late in 2004 and early in 2005. Later member of Institute of Fluff. (AFH)
*MaxDemian (#135141)-Information forthcoming. (OSB)

*Nana (#229098)-sassy forum poster and /newbie regular, before gaining Villa access. (TF)
*Nicolan (#297157)-Former partner of Kucolan who was recruited into the clan at a low-level by Kucolan. Involved in some of the controversies surrounding Kucolan's undoing. (AFH2)
*Nvx (#70152)-A legendary powergamer, Nvx became the highest level Moxie-class player after Boozerbear ascended. She was recruited in summer 2004 by DaPunisher and Jayo, and was initially booted by Quato, who relented when several members of the clan vouched for her. She remained until the clan's demise; she formed a solo clan, Paradigm Shift, afterwards, and has refused all clan offers since. (AFH)
*Olaf The Trampler (#102281)-A high-level powergamer who has gone recently inactive, Olaf was accepted to AFH without an invitation. Later a member of Aflubadubdub! (AFH)
*ParanoidAndroid (#67850)-see The Rye. (OSB, AFH2)
*Philanthropist (#43536)-see The Rye. (AFH)
*Popoman (#3696)-see Elite Ones. Popoman's account was autodeleted in April 2005. (AFH)

*Pyre9 (#77871)-Noted forum poster. (AFH, AFH2)
*Quato (#8870)- Founder of the clan Alliance From Hell. To a large extent, his history is told above. Aside from his capers in the various clans he visited, he was also one of the most successful powergamers ever, having once been the fifth most powerful player in the game. He was also the first player (discounting NPC's) ever to have a custom avatar. He gradually quit the game in the spring of 2005; the account was in the control of Worthy for a time, but is now believed to once again be his own. (AFH, OSB, AFH2, AA)
*Refridgerat0r (#161740)-well-known Villan. (AFH2)
*Sambob182 (#28325)-A real-life friend Of Quato's who spent many periods in the clan, the one-time co-leader has also been a member of Aflubadubdub, Golda and Epic in his time. Sambob182 is a villan and a on-again, off-again rares dealer. He was given a Consolation Ribbon for his contributions to the scavenger hunt. Sambob gave his account to Sealh8r at one point, but eventually reclaimed it after intervention from Jick.(AFH, OSB, AFH2, SOC, AA)
*Scarface80 (#71355)-Well-known forum poster, both under his own name and as "James". (TF)
*Sealh8r (#129383)- Sealh8r, in the parlance of gamer sociology, was the consummate Club. He was a fantastic economist (and a big-time donator), able to acquire a massive fortune of meat and rares, including (at one point) nine Talismans of Baio; he had a custom avatar with an asshat for a head that "shit Baios" (indeed, it was at his suggestion that multiple avatars be made possible). He was well-known to the forums as a hotheaded jokester, quick to criticize changes but just as quick to see good in them and once again praise the developers for the great game they'd created. But most of all, Sealh8r came to embody the spirit of PvP under the old system. He didn't have the most wins, or the best win-loss record (HotStuff, it is believed, quietly held both), but he was PvP's loudest and most fervent voice for the second half of 2004. He earned his reputation sniping levels 13-16, manipulating his muscle (as a seal clubber, natch) up or down while working his secondaries up to enormous levels, and assassinating any and all passers-by. Sealh8r repeatedly put bounties on his own head for huge quantities of money, and almost never had to pay out. It was because of his large bounties that the first Shore-Hunters began; Sealh8r was one of the first victims of a round-the-clock PvP shore watch, having been taken down by Gary Coleman (see Iocaine Powder). He also had several PvP multis, including the famous Sharpie2pen (see below and Warehouse 23), Raishnan (#137671), Blessedturtle2000 (#138732), Weldingweb (#137550), and Straight8ei23 (#140910), all of which he shepherded in a clan called "Jerry's Kids".

Sealh8r played under the new PvP rules for some time, but found his character poorly suited in the new environment, and retired from PvP forever. Some time later, Seal began acquiring some high-profile accounts, before leaving the game himself. Here is an account control history, as closely as I can uncover:
-Jayo gives Lect access to Jayo's account for a time. (Sept/Oct? 2004)
-DaPunisher buys Jayo's account. (mid-late Oct 2004)
-DaPunisher sells Jayo's account to Quato. While Quato has control, he loots Aflubadubdub, as Jayo is still a member of the clan. (10/25/04)
-DaPunisher gives his account to Sealh8r. (Jan 2005)
-Sealh8r buys the account of Jayo (presumably from Quato) (?)
-Sealh8r buys the account of Sambob182.
-Sealh8r sells Jayo's items to XHelloX1 (#157707) for Runescape items. XHelloX1 would later gain control of Jayo's account, though apparently not through Sealh8r.
-Sealh8r gives his account, as well as DaPunisher's, to G_God (February 2005) and wigglebot for safekeeping.
-Sealh8r gives all the accounts of Jerry's Kids to wiggleb0t.(March 2005)
-Sambob182 decides he wants his old account back; Philanthropist arranges to have Sambob's password and email reset by Jick. (May 2005)
-Several of Jerry's Kids are deleted for multi abuse at the insistence of Philanthropist, after the Sealh8r/Wigglebot/Sambob182 controversy turns ugly. (May 2005)

(AFH, AA)
*SEbulba (#72914)-a noted high-level powergamer who just managed to crack the Top 25 powerboards in May 2005 as Ascension approached. (OSB, AFH2, AA)
*Shadez (#17062)-Oldtime player who was an active contributor around the time of Black Sunday. Shadez has been active intermittently in his time in KoL, and is said to have looted the first AFH on his way out, though this did not stop his being accepted into both of its successor clans. (AFH, OSB, AFH2)
*Sharpie2pen (#138650)-see Knights of Minus Tirith. Former leader of Absolute Adherence. see also Sealh8r's entry above, and Warehouse 23. (AA)

*SolarFlare (#76740)-Noted economist and coder. SolarFlare, as a member of AFH, ran their war room for a time; he also acquired a large cache of tradable rares following Black Sunday. SolarFlare is the author of several KoL utilites (a food/drink chart and a php helper window), which he has since retired; he has also found a number of bugs. Most notably, he discovered that clan titles and other clan administration texts would accept html, and he created a clan called . This was essentially the same bug that allowed Boozerbear to force open Radio KoL whenever someone looked at his profile.

He notes of his other bugs, "I did once find an item duplication bug. (This was used to dupe 1000 Mr. Accessories.) However, I didn't follow the correct procedure for reporting it, and managed to end up in a heap of trouble. Other minor bugs: discarding an undiscardable item, chatting invisibly, using Valentines without losing them, putting items in display cases and stores that don't exist, familiar deletion. There may be others, but I typically forget about them once they are patched."

Just before Ascension rolled out, SolarFlare completed a statistical analysis of the Kingdom's player base, and posted it on the forums as the first Census of Loathing. Later member of Loathing Underground. (AFH, OSB, AFH2)
*Spherefein (#125813)-Frequent forum poster and artist. (AFH2)
*Starn (#52287)-see Noblesse Oblige. (AFH2)
*Syko Spandex Mouse (#204982)-Villa member and rares hawk who joined when was a rookie to the game. Left and rejoined AFH frequently, remaining an active message board poster each time. SSM took a large percentage of the members to Tempest Fugit as AFH folded. (AFH2, TF)
*T3h1337n00b (#150356)-well-known forum poster. As a literal n00b, t3h1337n00b was given a large quantity of stolen goods when BoozerBear was hacked in July 2004. When he returned them, BoozerBear rewarded him with a full Crimbo suit. (AFH2, TF)

*The Large Moose (#76350)-Former member of a (different) clan that collected every tradable item in the game, except the Item #13. It included FightaBunny24531, Qrrbrbirlbel, Balex2290, and others. The Large Moose went inactive after the hurricanes in Florida. (AFH)

*ThugGurl (#35784)-see Aflubadubdub!. (AFH)

*Tomhowlin (#8492)-Longtime powergamer and villan. (AFH, AFH2, DT)
*Tonu (#80905)-Legendary member noted for his philanthropy and loyalty. Recruited by Quato and later made a co-leader by Firestorm ZERO. Insanely active contributor to stash, forums and message board. Tonu is enormously wealthy, and deals often in rares. He accomplished the unbelievable feat of finding three Talismans of Baio with the same character on three straight days; Jick may have changed the algorithm by which the Baiowulf appears because of his success. Also a well-known forum poster. (AFH2, TF)

*Viper Man 3 (#4419)-Oldtime powergamer; long since autodeleted. (AFH)
*Virgo (#41148)-see Warclan. (AFH2, TF)
*WARBURY (#85045)-Known clan looter, of AFH and others. (AFH2)
*WidowMaker (#124864) - Villa member, noted rares dealer, and maker of a few in-game custom avatars. Widowmaker's legendarily lackluster grammar and spelling skills (he is Bulgarian) have made him the butt of countless jokes in the forums. Widowmaker was also the guiding force behind the least well-known NPC character meatsink that followed Black Sunday. After the Don's Villa, the Yeti's Oyabun-Kobun, and the Suspicious Looking Guy's suspicous looking clan, Widowmaker created the (Jick-sanctioned) character Teh Hermit (#368043), so named because Hermit (#47325), The Hermit (#52295), and TheHermit (#281457) were already taken. His clan, The Hermit's secret underground laboratory, was only minimally successful in meatsinking, and was actually accused of being a scam by HotStuff on the forums. Later member of The Rye and The Courtyard. (AFH, OSB, AFH2)
*WigglebOt (#199017)-Villan and well-known forum poster. Former member of Institute of Fluff and the Courtyard; now a major leader of Absolute Adherence. (AA)
